This would have not been possible without all of your amazing support 🎉 Over 200 of you have contributed to the campaign and we can't express enough how grateful we are for each contribution and all the moral support we have gotten from you. 🙏 And we want to invite you to help us do a last push to distribute the Transbiome crowdfunding campaign and the study itself. 📣
Why another last-minute push?
While we have reached our optimum funding goal, it turns out that we were a bit too optimistic when planning the budget: We had calculated our initial budget with the assumption that every microbiome sampling kit we send out would result in a sample being returned to us. But of course that's not actually the case for a variety of reasons. For example, some folks get sick and had antibiotics treatments against infections and can participate; the post sometimes misplaces letters and sometimes people just don't find the time to send back their samples.
This means we need to order more sampling kits to actually get to the 50 samples we had planned. Given the current return rate, we are ordering another 50 sampling kits for around 540 € to make it to the goal of 50 actually collected samples.
So please, help us spread the world during this last day! 📣📣📣
Where is Transbiome right now?
- 50 trans women have already registered their interest in participating in our study ✍️
- We have already sent out 45 sampling kits to participants 📤
- 23 of these samples have already been collecteed and arrived back at our office 📥
- 13 samples have already arrived at the sequencing facility, so very soon we should get the first microbiome data 🧬
What are the next steps for Transbiome?
- We are ordering more sample collection kits 📦
- We are still looking for more participants to achieve the limit of 50 collected samples 🕵️♀️
- As soon as the additional collection kits arrive we will send them out! 📤
- And of course, as soon as the campaign ends and we have the final numbers we will prepare shipping out all the swag (stickers, pins, books)! 📦
