Happy New Year, Goteo community!

The philosopher Hannah Arendt once wrote that “men, though they must die, are not born in order to die but in order to begin.” There is no quote that fits this January 7th better. Once the holiday noise fades, we are left with the fertile silence of a blank page called 2026. Starting a new year is not just about changing a digit on the calendar; it is an invitation to rediscover hope for what does not yet exist but is already pulsing in our imagination. It is time to stop being spectators of change and become its artisans, embracing the challenge of building through self-organization and mutual support—the two compasses that always guide us when the path seems uncertain.

The year ahead calls for audacity. It’s not about waiting for solutions to come from the outside, but about trusting our capacity to come together, support one another, and launch projects that sustain life. The hope of this new cycle does not stem from naivety, but from the certainty that when we organize, "I" transforms into an unstoppable "we." With this fresh energy, we present the first three projects seeking their chance to bloom in 2026. Will you help us give them their first push?

🪵Cendra espai col·lectiu

Something big is taking root in the old town of Xàtiva. The Cendra cooperative is growing and needs a new 245m² space to serve as an ethical printing workshop, an intergenerational meeting point, and a driver for the social economy in the La Costera region.

This is more than a renovation; it’s about reviving a neighborhood’s pulse and planting a place where creativity and values walk hand in hand. They need our help to fit out the premises, ensure accessibility, and fill it with life.

🏜️La duna de Chinguetti

What if you discovered your roots were hidden behind a 19th-century legend in Mauritania? This documentary tells Suilma and Bahía's journey in search of their identity, but it is much more than a film: it is a plea to preserve the ancestral libraries of the Sahara, currently threatened by neglect and the climate.

Furthermore, 10% of the funds raised will support HumanCoop NGO health programs. A project where poetry, cinema, and solidarity merge in the sand.

🏗️ Urban Planning for the Common Good

When faced with urban projects that threaten our environment, protest is necessary, but technical rigor is decisive. n’UNDO is launching its "Technical Activism Fund" to provide tools to communities defending their territory.

Following the philosophy of "Subtraction" (Not Doing, Redoing, Undoing), they propose real alternatives to the privatization of public land in Marbella or light pollution in the Manzanares River. Because defending the common good is also a matter of science and methodology.

May 2026 be the year our hopes stop being wishes and become collective realities. Thank you for being there for another year!

In order for us to continue our work so that more civic initiatives take place
